Stephen Bruton was a multi-talented guitar player/songwriter/producer/actor, and one of my very best friends. We met in the early 70's through T-Bone Burnett, who had grown up in Ft. Worth, Texas with him. Together, Stephen and I played, recorded and toured in many settings, both big and small. Although somewhat under the radar,he was revered among roots/Americana appreciators, both as a writer and producer. We toured together for two years in Bonnie Raitt's band in the early 90's, and I was quite honored that he asked me to produce his first two solo albums. Stephen became ill somewhat suddenly, and passed away in 2009. but not before completing his work on the Oscar-winning film "Crazy Heart" as both player, songwriter, guitar coach to Jeff Bridges and production assistant  to T-Bone. The film is dedicated to his memory.
